Patient Reviews

The compassion from Sweet Child O' Mine team is everything & the best in Tampa Bay 💯 Thank you so much for educating & preparing us via your Child Birth classes for our 1st pregnancy ! Though we delivered at a hospital, we couldn't have done it without Arlene, your doula team & Maureen's help!!! Our little one was delivered safely without epidural via vaginal birth on 11/5/2020 thanks to Midwife Maureen ❤ Had she not been there, the worst would have happened 😭. My family is forever grateful & will continue to recommend this team. God bless you all‼️ 💕

My experience with Sweet Child O' Mine (SCOM) has been absolutely phenomenal. I am a first time mom, had a beautiful pregnancy and water birth; my midwife was Maureen and assistant was Ariel. From prenatal to birth to post natal, I am immensely grateful to the amazing ladies for all that they do and couldn't ask for better care and experience. The environment is energetically positive, peaceful, comfortable and clean; the approach is natural, encouraging, supportive, positive, informative and educational, with focus on health and wellness. I cherish my experience and am so happy that I brought my little girl into this world with the help of SCOM. Having an all natural birth gave me additional strength and pride that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for everything ladies, keep doing God's work :) :) :)

Labor and delivery for both of my births were completely different but very special. My son's labor started with spontaneous break of water and he was born 18 hrs later. My daughter's labor in June 2020 was much more gradual with contractions beginning 2 days before her due date and she was born 6 hrs later. I was more experienced the second time and able to really focus and relax into each contraction rather than tense up. Kim and Maureen attended her birth and upon their arrival at 4pm I was only 2cm/50%/-2 station. My Doula (Yamel @ One Love Doula) guided me through movements to bring on active labor and within 2.5 hrs I had progressed to 6cm/90%/-1. Maureen and Kim monitored mine and the baby's vitals periodically but for the most part during that time they allowed me to focus on my baby and bringing her down with the assistance of my wonderful husband and Doula. By 7:30pm I realized my team could tell I was in transition and I didn't need to wait for them to tell me to push, my body began doing it for me. Within a few surges my waters had broken and after a change in position in the tub she was born. Neither of my babies were born screaming like I've seen on TV and both required a few puffs of oxygen but I never felt concerned. The team was ready and knew exactly what to do to get them to breath and pink up. They never took my baby from me, it was all done with cord attached and on my chest. I held my babies both times until the placenta emerged and cord was cut. Then baby went to dad so I could be assessed and assisted to my bed. The team stayed for a few hours to do the newborn exam, clean, continue to check vitals, etc. Then everyone leaves and you are in your comfort zone and able to sleep with your little bundle right next to you! There is nothing better!! This was my last birth but I will continue to encourage my friends and family to educate themselves on birth and take control of their own experience with the team at SCOM. Birth is NOT a procedure best left for the *expert*. YOU are the one doing all the work. The Dr./ Midwives job is to guide and help educate you, not make your decisions for you. You can expect that of this team!

Maureen is nothing short of AMAZING! My family and I were certainly blessed with an amazing, knowledgeable, encouraging, passionate, caring, sweet midwife. After terrible experiences, I switched from a corporate OB to Maureen when I was 28 weeks pregnant. Was I nervous to have a natural birth? You bet! I had both my daughters in the hospital with an epidural. But, when I met Maureen for the first time, and started talking to her, that nervousness and fear went away instantly. She encouraged me to continue my workouts and running, which I did up until the day I had my son. She spent time talking with me and answered any and all questions I had. She even remembered everything we talked about from prior visits. My birth experience was one my family and I will never forget. It was an amazing, positive experience and I couldn't have asked for a better midwife by my side. My birth experience is something I carry with me every day, and on the hard days I tell myself if I can have a natural birth, I can do anything I set my mind too. Thank you, Maureen for just being you. Good health-care is so hard to come by these days and you are truly one of a kind. God put you in our lives at the right time and my family and I will always be grateful for you. Thank you for making me feel strong. My birth experience is something I will always treasure for the rest of my life. The recovery was easy and I came out stronger mentally in the end. I know I can do anything I put my mind too. Thank you Maureen for everything!

Maureen and her team are amazing, and supported me throughout my whole pregnancy and postpartum journey. I am very grateful for everything they did for me and my baby as this was my first pregnancy and I did not know what to expect. I would recommend their services to anyone who is looking to have an empowering birth experience.
